PLSS Base Map of Minnesota

http://www.fairview-industries.com/standardmodule/mn-exmpl.htm

Public Land Survey System is an example of a Systematic Land Partitioning System (or a cadastral system which demonstrates land ownership). The basis of the PLSS grid is comprised of a base line (east-west) and a principal meridian (north- south) that run through the initial point. The above map shows a portion of Minnesota's PLSS Base Map (a part of the 1:100,000 Worthington Quadrangle), with each block representing a quarter quarter section.

Isobar Map: Germany's 'Current' Isobar Map (3/28/12)

http://www.malagawetter.de/karten/fronten_gross.gif

An Isobar map is a weather map that plots the contour lines that represent air pressure of a certain location. By definition, isobars are lines of equal atmospheric pressure. The above map depicts the atmospheric pressure of Germany on the 28th of March, 2012. Due to the properties of wind when traveling (from high to low) meteorologists are able to use maps such as the one above us in order to predict weather patterns.
